Turn Recruiter Emails into Tailored Applications with Claude Code

Recruiter emails and job alerts pile up faster than you can act on them. If your Claude Code agent is connected to both your inbox and ResumeAlign over MCP, it can turn that pile into tailored, submitted applications — read the email, grab the job link, score it, tailor your résumé, apply, and even draft the reply. Here’s the workflow.

TL;DR: With a Gmail MCP connector plus ResumeAlign’s MCP server, your agent can read recruiter emails, extract the job links, queue and tailor them on your own model, apply, and draft a reply with the right résumé. It’s a cross-MCP pipeline — your agent is the glue.

The pieces

The workflow

Ask your agent something like:

Read my unread recruiter emails from this week. For each that
links to a real job posting:
  1. Pull the link and score it against my résumé.
  2. If it's a 70%+ match and remote, tailor my résumé to it
     and queue it to apply.
Then give me a table: company, role, match score, and a one-line
"why it fits / what's missing." Don't apply to anything below 70%.

The agent reads the inbox (email MCP), extracts the links, calls ResumeAlign’s analyze_job_match to score, tailors the strong ones on its own model, and queues them via submit_tailored_resume / queue_jobs. You get a ranked table and a queue that’s ready to apply.

Draft the replies, too

Recruiters expect a response. Let the agent write it:

For the three I want to pursue, draft a short, warm reply to the
recruiter — reference one specific thing from the role and note
that my tailored résumé is attached.

The agent has the posting and your tailored résumé, so the replies are specific, not boilerplate. You review and send.

Make it a morning routine

Wrap the whole thing in a scheduled Claude Code routine that runs each morning: triage overnight recruiter mail, tailor and queue the good ones, and hand you a short digest with drafted replies. You wake up to a prioritized list instead of an inbox.

What it costs

Nothing per email. The scoring and tailoring run on your Claude Code subscription (Bring Your Own Model), so ResumeAlign spends $0 on AI and you spend $0 in API credits. The free plan covers 30 applications/month; the MCP Plan ($19.99/mo) makes it unlimited.

Note: connect only the MCP servers you trust, and review what the agent drafts before it sends or applies. Your ResumeAlign token scopes access to your own account.

Frequently asked questions

How does the agent read my email?
Through an email MCP connector (for example the Gmail connector) that you add to Claude Code. The agent reads the messages, extracts job links, and hands them to ResumeAlign’s MCP tools for scoring and tailoring. Connect only servers you trust, and review drafts before sending.

Will it apply without my approval?
Only if you tell it to. You can ask it to triage and queue (and stop), then review before applying — or let it apply to matches above a threshold you set. You stay in control of the rules.
